Creature of the Night [A Fan story]

My skin prickled in the frigid air and my breath flashed in front of my face in momentary jets of fog as I walked down the dark street. Well, not that you could call it dark; the city lights beat down like daylight, but without the comforting warmth that sunlight gave.
Despite knowing that it would be cold, I had left my apartment without bringing a jacket. I suppose it was my desperate urge to get out of its cramped stuffiness that overrode rational thought.

I was heading downtown, towards one of the small blocks of nature that city dwellers called a 'botanical garden'. I snorted at the thought. Stupid city slickers, they wouldn't know nature if it hit them in the face. I was still glad for their attempt of course. The move from my home in the countryside was a reluctant one and I still silently cursed the one who had led me here, promising a job and opportunities. She had been a childhood friend, I had trusted her but, I suppose she was born for the rush and commotion of the city.

As I mused my predicament, I had already arrived at the archway that heralded the West Garden. A small patch of grass, steel benches, a trickle of water that they liked to call 'a stream' and a thicket of stunted trees that, despite being tall, were sickly from having their roots crammed into this tiny patch of earth.
Still, I preferred it here to my tiny apartment.

I sat on one of the benches, the steel searingly cold under my bottom. It was quieter here, marginally.
There was a snap like a twig breaking underfoot. Which was odd, nothing lived here. No animals, at any rate.

A voice spoke from the darkness, soft and luxuriant, like black silk sheets."Are you not cold, my dear?"
I swivelled on the bench to come face to well, snout, with a creature. Scaly, with golden eyes that gleamed in the darkness and wings tucked back behind its shoulders.

"Wh- who are you?" I managed to stammer.

I'm glad you like it so far!

Updates will be whenever I have time/feel like it. :mystery: (I have always wanted an excuse to use that emote.)

If more people like it then updates might be a little more frequent, but *shrug* no promises?

I very much do like it and hope for updates.

Would the creature in question happen to be a nox?

Hehe, well, considering the toy from BD that I am considering the most is a Nox, I thought I might base my first story on a Night Drake. Not necessarily Nox himself. :)

Most people would have thought of dragons and other mythical creatures as just that, right? Myths, legends, stories and in general, not real. Well, they are wrong.
They were always real, but they were secretive and kept to themselves, mostly. A few interacted with select communities; isolated country villages and the like but, with dragon hunters and those who wished to exploit dragon parts on the 'natural medicines' market, it was always a risk to them in revealing themselves.

As humanity spread across the globe, delving further into unknown wilds, it became apparent that remaining hidden was no longer an option. In an effort to protect themselves and other mystical beings, the dragons revealed themselves to mankind. After the disbelief died down, they started trying to integrate into some parts of the community, moving into cities and towns willing to implement dragon-protection laws with harsh punishments for those who harmed dragons.

Some were happy to live harmoniously with dragons, others, not so much. Most people just simply went about their business as always, too absorbed in their own lives to really care.

First Stanza

"Wh-Who are you?"

The creature cocked its head, "Don't you mean what am I?", its voice was soft and almost like a purr.

"Well- no, that would be a rude thing to ask." I chewed on my lip. "I mean, I think it would be rude. Isn't it?"

It chuckled, "Well, yes... but humans don't make a point of being polite. One the whole that is." It added.

"Well, this one is!" I exclaimed. "S-so, I suppose I should tell you who I am, I am Ness. Well, Vanessa is my n-name but no one really c-calls me that." I was starting to shiver in the cold and rubbed my arms vigorously, trying to encourage some warmth back into them.

The creature looked at me, "You do look cold. I neglected to bring anything with me so I have nothing to offer to you unfortunately."

"Oh, no, it's fine! I like it out here." I rubbed my arms a little harder.

The creature seemed to shrug. "Very well. I must answer your question then, I am Artig and, I am a night drake."

A dragon! I knew that they existed and were present here in the city, but they usually kept to themselves since the dragon protection laws started to slacken, only upheld really in the case of dragon part harvesters operating on the dragon organ black market. I certainly never expected to meet one, especially here of all places.

"So, what brings you here? And alone? It can be dangerous for human females to walk the night alone."

"Is it? I come here often at night. It's quiet and reminds me of home." I was taken aback, was that concern in the dragon's voice? Dragons were known to be aloof or at least, did not care for the well-being of humans. Which was understandable really.

"Ah, yes, the city can be... stifling." The dragon nodded sagely.

"Y-yes." I could feel my fingers becoming numb with cold and I tucked my icy hands into my armpits. Not exactly glamorous but, I hadn't had the foresight to wear pants with pockets. "I think I might head home soon though, it really is rather cold."

"Of course, but I cannot let you walk alone, that would be irresponsible at this hour." The dragon walked around the bench and as he passed me, I caught a glance of what appeared to be a large glistening- "Let us go, we can converse whilst we walk." I caught the dragon's gaze and blushed, embarrassed that I had been caught staring. He seemed unperturbed by my rudeness.

Realising that my nipples were erect in the cold, I folded my arms across my chest. I didn't know whether that was something the night drake would notice, but still, I felt a little... exposed.
As we walked down the street, I tried to keep my gaze up to prevent any further embarrassment. I was uncomfortable at my own curiousity, knowing how rude it was to stare at another's body, even if he was a dragon.

"So, do you go to the garden often?" I asked, trying to make conversation.

"Garden? I wouldn't exactly call that spit of trees a garden, would you." Artig snorted. A soft sound, like rustling leaves.

"Exactly! No one else agrees but no one I have met so far has any idea of what real nature should be like. It needs some flowers and undergrowth at the very least."

"Well, perhaps we should change that." Artig smiled, showing small, pointed teeth. "What sort of flowers would you like to see?"

I spoke without hesitation, "Lobelia, they grow like weeds and have very pretty flowers. It is also the name of my sister."

"Is your sister pretty like you?" Artig looked up at me. He walked on all fours, tail flicking from side to side as he went.

Taken aback, I stopped. "W-well-"

Artig chuckled again. "I'm sorry, that was probably a little forward of me. What other flowers would you like?"

I started down the pavement again, "Sweet Alyssum. It covers the ground everywhere at home and has a lovely scent in the summer. Like honey."

"It sounds lovely."

We continued until we got to my block, in silence. It was an agreeable silence that was punctuated by the sounds of the city and the rustling of Artig's wings as he padded along side of me.

"Well, this is where I live. Thank you for walking with me, I appreciate it." I smiled nervously.

"It was my pleasure, dear one." He stood on his hind legs and gave a little bow. I struggled again to keep my gaze up towards his eyes, glimmering like golden orbs of light.

"Good night!" I stammered, flushing in embarrassment.

He spread his wings and with a few great flaps, rose into the air and flew down the street like a fast moving shadow.

I shivered and entered the apartment block, climbing the 18 flights of stairs that lead to my apartment. I unlocked the door and locked it behind me before walking into my room and flopping down on my bed, heart thudding as I wrapped the quilt around me.

Second Stanza
I lay on my bed, bundled in my quilt.

I just met a dragon. A gentlemanly one at that. He wasn't anything that I had expected. Well spoken and kind, and- well hung...

There was a stirring of desire within me as I thought about his large glistening member. I wonder if he was aroused by me...
I felt myself tighten at the thought.
While I knew that dragons and humans did sometimes have intimate relations, I had always though that those who sought out dragons for that reason were maybe a bit strange. But the more I thought about it, the more I couldn't get the thought out of my head.

I reached over to my nightstand and grabbed the bottle of lube and my vibrator. There wasn't any way I would be sleeping tonight...

I awoke suddenly, as usual, to the screeching of my alarm. I rolled out of bed and deftly turned down my quilt before padding into my bathroom for my morning shower. I had slept, soundly infact, once I had dealt with my unbidden desire.
But even now, the warmth in my groin was returning. It was unusual for me to have such strong feelings of sexual desire. Not that I had much to be aroused about normally; the boys back home who, despite being good looking, well, some of them were, with bodies sculpted by hard labour, were a bit thick and certainly had no finesse when it came to the bedroom.
My colleagues at the office were droll. Shallow drones who only thought about money and work. Certainly no one interesting that I would willingly spend time with outside the office sphere.

I stepped into the shower, turning on the cold tap before the hot and flinched as the frigid water hit my body. The shock briefly quelled my desire, as was the intention.
After I stepped out of the shower and dressed for the office in my drab grey slacks and shapeless white shirt, I locked my apartment and made my way down the stairs. Passing the small breakfast stop on the street one block down, I nabbed a small hot cocoa and sipped it as I walked to the bus stop that would take me downtown to work.

Data analyst. Fancy words for nine til five boredom that involved more data entry than actual analysis. I started out as a receptionist and my dislike of dealing with people but my efficiency at typing landed me the analyst position (by efficiency, I mean that I use more than two fingers and can type more than 10 words per minute). Ironically it was better paid, but involved working with people who were more boring than I could have imagined. But I got a cubicle station on my own in the corner of the 23rd floor office, which allowed me to spend a lot of time surfing the web.
Having finished my current tasks yesterday, 1 day before my submission deadline, I effectively had a whole day to do whatever I liked, as long as I didn't leave my chair.

I opened my browser and typed 'night drake' into the search bar. I clicked the first result which read "Of all dragons, Night Drakes are the least gregarious. In addition to being rude and without manners, they tend to form gangs that cause bother to local neighbourhoods. Most importantly, if alone, do not approach a night drake. They aren't unknown to molest or attack a human in a dark alley."
Well that seemed strange, Artig didn't seem to fit the description at all!

I continued searching until a site caught my eye. Bad Dragon, making fantasies real since 2008.
Intrigued, I clicked on the link.

Third Stanza
The page loaded and I was confronted by a close-up picture of a colourful, ridged dildo, that faded to a picture of a flying dragon, swooping to eat his own cum. I quickly closed the tab, blushing as I glanced behind me to make sure no one had seen my screen.

The afternoon was spend wishing for the day to end so I could go home and satisfy my curiosity, but finally, five pm arrived,I clocked off and made my way home. In my haste to get back to my apartment, I almost missed the fact that there was mail in my mailbox. I unlocked it and pulled out a small envelope, there was nothing written on the outside which was a bit strange. I jogged up the stairs as I opened it and pulled out a small card. On the front was a picture of a sunset. I opened it and a small purple object fell out. I bent down and picked it up.
