Preliminary (fan) Kippy Drawing

Postby Quiet269 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:19 am

I originally asked for this image back before the Kippy was even set to be put into production, because I wanted a way to stir up interest for it if it dropped off... well... awhile later and I got the sketch of it... check it out:

Looks too much like a dog, too little like a cat.

Especially since most of the distinguishing features are on the head. I'd suggest a cat's tail, and obviously slanted eyes at least. :3

I could help, perhaps. I make a point of studying what features identify a creature. If you like, I could give you a preliminary design that might help?

How about these features:
Big ears that go a bit up, then fall down, looking like a beagle's ears, but have those furry tips some cats (specially wild ones) have.
Puppy eyes, kinda like Puss 'N Boots', but with narrow cat-like pupils.
Image
Cat whiskers.
Dog tongue.
Very furry tail, like in some cats and dogs, like the tail of a labrador retriever.
Mixed fur patters from cats and dogs, whichever ones you like. (IMO wolf + tiger would look awesome)

Well, not my drawing (I wish it was) but I mentioned that it looks more dog than cat... so I'll see whaht his reply is. and go from there :)

Thanks for the suggestions all, I'll use em if he asks for some specifics, or if it doesn't work out so well for the next note

Late to the party, but... Here are some possible ways to adjust the anatomy to make it more obviously a hybrid:

- a longer muzzle with a cat's mouth shape and whiskers
- one pointed feline ear, one drooped ear
- short-haired cat's tail (as mentioned above, but emphasizing that it'd have to be short-haired, not fluffy)
- typically canine markings/colors
- dog paws/hands

This is a really difficult cross. I've tried drawing it myself, without a lot of success (though I think some of the problem was that it was an established character whose features I couldn't alter).
