That's right, it's Bad Dragon Waiting Syndrome! This is a "just for fun" thread - not knocking BD in the slightest for the wait times. They're a small company and much of that time is devoted to producing only the best of merchandise. Buuuut it doesn't change the fact that so many of us bounce in anticipation from the moment we decide to get a new toy to the first opening of the box when it arrives.
Update! Since BD no longer lets you see the stage-by-stage progress (the order page goes straight from "processing" to the toy being shipped), here's a revised version of the list!
The stages of Bad Dragon Waiting Syndrome are as follows:
1) Deciding on a toy.
2) Collecting funds for said toy.
3) Figuring out the features and deciding if you're really sure it's what you want, and perhaps ticketing for information or special requests.
(steps 1 through 3 are largely interchangeable)
4) Placing the order.
5) First few days: excitement, checking 10 times a day to see if your order went speedily
6) First 1-2 weeks: happy impatience, checking for progress at least once daily
7) If the order takes more than 2 weeks: Some anxiety, wondering if there's a long line for the model you picked
Odds are you might calm down after this point and become focused elsewhere. If not...
8) If the order takes more than 4 weeks: Notable anxiety. (but everything's fine, right?)
9) 5 weeks: Impatience, anxiety. (breathe in, breathe out...)
10) 6-7 weeks: Paranoia begins to set in (omgomgomgomgomgdidtheyforget?theyforgotdidn'ttheyomgomgomg)
11-1) 8 or more weeks: You begin to vibrate with impatience. Experts recommend a ticket at this point.
11-2) Waiting for reply to ticket: slight easing of symptoms, though they are liable to return during the wait.
11-3) Ticket's been replied to: In most cases, relief and easing of the majority of symptoms. However syndrome may instead escalate if a major roadblock on the way to toy creation and/or shipping has occurred.
Most folks, thankfully, go straight from stage 5, 6, or 7 to stage 12.
12) Checking the mail every time you pass the front door and frequently watching the online tracking once it's shipped.
12.5) Despair and/or rage if shipment is delayed.
13) Initial release of tension - your toy is on your front step!
14) Unpacking. Second build of tension. "Oh boy oh boy oh boy...!!!"
15) Minor release of tension, possibly followed by more building - you can now see your toy in all its glory.
15.5) Uh-oh! Something's wrong! Time to send a ticket! D:
16) Final release of tension. You know why. :fap:
