On the subject of the third clue given by janine to the forum team:

Code: Select all

Where is the best place to look for clues?

The pics will hide some crazy things sometimes...

     Follow the numbers.

I hope this doesn't mean that we're supposed to be looking in the data of those images for clues.

Due to the usage of dropbox by the gamemasters, the everyone.jpg image of the Aublysodon tooth and every image segment of the T. Rex Skull Fragment have been compressed by DBs overzealous bandwidth saving tactics.
If you open the files up in notepad or a hex editor you'll see where dropbox has inserted a little mention to their service in the compressed image's metadata.
Image
Our team has tested this with a fresh image (containing no mention to Dropbox, Inc) and this is indeed caused by dropbox.
If there was any hidden clues inside of the file they might have been lost during that compression.

It's unlikely that this is the case but I just want to put this information out there.

I checked the (jaw) pic from Team Pterodicktals on qcrypto and it was (1 of 2)/13 that ran inconclusive.

EDIT: Was the original from Janine's email the one that got shared?

I just checked all of the skull fragment images from the forum and reddit team that were attatched to posts on this page, they're dropbox compressed also.

That would be great. I know I'm feeling overwhelmed by the total amount of data surrounding the clues right now. :stick:

Make it easier for people to see all the clues instead of having to look through page after page sure. Not saying people want be posting their ideas and it will look just like this one does now but it will be a lot easier.

So I'm really out of the loop on this (and I wasn't selected on a team) but I'd like to try and help if possible.

I don't know if I am ignorant and "black scaled" is a term for something.. but I searched 'black dinosaur' for the heck of it and found something about a t.rex named "Black Beauty" named for it's "shiny dark color of the fossil bones"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specimens ... TMP_81.6.1

"The specimen is housed in the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada."

So maybe RTM? But I could be totally off track :psyduck:

The all-in-one* hint post for code 2!
Also posted in Team Indominable!

Hints from Janine

Last hint from janine:
The only remaining hints I can give are as follows:

The first strand leads you to coordinates, that will send you somewhere that reveals the three characters for strand one.

The image of the skull contains the answers for strand 2.

The image attached here contains the answers for strand 3.

CRON is increasing security measures (you all have him running scared) and will be locking us out until 12pm MST on 6/15.

Great work, you have truly done amazing things! Tell your teams to get some rest and prepare for round three on Monday.

Thank you so much! You have our eternal gratitude.

Good luck with puzzle 2, sorry Duke and I will be locked out from helping any further!
Janine email response
What Dino is the code centered around?

Well we seem to hear the initials b and m...

Will there be plushies at the end of this quest?

Not sure on plushies...

Where is the best place to look for clues?

The pics will hide some crazy things sometimes...

Follow the numbers.

Does Stan have clues for us?

Stan will not offer you much assistance...distant cousins of his maybe...
Big Mike is based on “the Wankel T. rex,” which was discovered just before Labor Day in 1988 by Montana rancher Kathy Wankel.

The only dragon in minecraft lies in the end. Did anyone visit the end to see if they put anything near the "bad dragon"

Dunno if this was mentioned before but

Code: Select all

Will there be plushies at the end of this quest?

Not sure on plushies...

Where is the best place to look for clues?

The pics will hide some crazy things sometimes...

Follow the numbers.

Does Stan have clues for us?

Stan will not offer you much assistance...distant cousins of his maybe...

Sounds to me like Perry the Parasaur might have some clues. He has plushies in his picture inside store and is a "distant cousin"

EDIT: I studied his main picture (that with plushies) and its data. All numbers I can make out is the price $2.99
Nothing special inside image data, except for a few "space" gaps... could be normal though

sadly they only answered questions for "about 10 minutes every 3 hours" and (despite trying) it seems no other teams were able to ask any questions (and we only got one email of questions in)

Does anyone have a pair of those red/blue 3d glasses? the coloring effect on the skull pictures reminds me of that type of 3d
