Bad Dragon inventory search?

Postby Xayr » Sun Feb 28, 2016 10:24 am

I've always wondered: Why doesn't the inventory page have more refined search options? It can become pretty tiresome when you're looking throughout 3000 something toys.

I've no clue if this is the subforum for feature suggestions.

I've made an example (excuse my vomit HTML :p)

If you want to view that it can be found here

Yeah could definetly need that, is quite annoying to search for the name and then clicking trough them.
Toys I want to buy:
- Elypse Art: Neo & Vixen
- BD April Fool Toys: Red Rocket & Fire Hydrant

I'm located in Germany, feel free to send me a message if you're selling one of these.

There's another one of these here:

viewtopic.php?f=127&t=33087&p=1064661&hilit=inventory#p1064661

It would be interesting to compare and see the difference between the two! I like the layout of yours, though. One thing I'd like to request is that the model names be put in alphabetical order, if possible?

That other one outruns mine tenfold, hah.

Though mine was a simple test, its not at all dynamic like the one shown on the page you linked. ( I have to manually create the database each time I want to update the toys list :p, i'm not good at making web crawlers )

As for putting the toys in alphabetical order, I was originally going to do that; but I did this at 3:00AM last night.

Code: Select all

function concat_and()
   if fcall then
      fcall = false
   else
      addcondition = addcondition .. " AND "
   end
end

local toys = {

I didn't want to write a SortedPairsByValue function, mainly because this is a proof of concept to a friend that Lua can be used with apache. I just figured i'd put it here as a recommendation for an inventory search.

Sorry! I just remembered the other one, but I haven't looked at it in a while so I was thinking they were more similar. I do like the idea of having the extra search/sort functions on the actual adoptions page. I don't know anything about making stuff like this, so honestly I wasn't sure how different they may be. Either way, I like how yours looks better.

Yours has the better interface, a lot easier to use then the other one, especially if looking for specific qualities other then a certain model. Such as all medium firmness suction cup toys.

The other one of course has an active update system, which makes it beat yours in terms of utility, since I know that one will be up to date, even if it is a pain to try and navigate.

Missing a few things, like mini size.

But really impressive overall.

Would love to see a joint effort between you two.

Joint effort probably wouldn't happen x3. Both of ours are in two different languages D:

I really hope that BD will do something like this, I would personally find it so useful. I know many others would as well.

Yes it's been suggested before, because it's a good idea! I really like your interface, I would definitely use that. I don't know about programming, but would it be possible to, say, exclude all of X toys? For example exclude all with a cumtube.

I really dig this idea. I am only really interested in minis and smalls in medium firmness, in non matte colors, so it would be nice to be able to search for specifics like that.

Nicely done! I don't know why something like this hasn't been created yet (officially). It is pretty trivial in the grand scheme of things and would save them A LOT on bandwidth.

I was working on something similar, but mostly just crafted the html interface. I work with php and mysql though and could write the query statements (which is how this would ideally be implemented.)

Now sure how BD does their database, but I would happily knock out that functionality in about a day.

This one is made with Lua! I find it a viable replacement for PHP :3

This is so awesome!! Up until now I've just been doing a ctrl + F search to find what I need. But this is so much more useful, so thank you so much!
