Also for the whole "fictional consenting adult thing" who's to say the "underage" characters someone draws doesn't magically have the intelligence to consent? I mean, it's all fictional, so saying that wouldn't be a stretch.

like "I like this character, but she's 13. I'm going to draw her with this other adult character, but also giving her the ability to consent and the intelligence to know what's going on" etc because well...they are creating it.

I'm all for different opinions and i TOTALLY understand why people would think that type of content would be uncomfortable, all I'm saying is it's a really dumb, slippery slope with absolutely nothing to grab onto

That reminds me how people who hadn't watched monster musume were attacking people for drawing fan art of the more loli looking characters. The thing is that every monster girl is an adult. Just that some species are smaller bodied. It's really a tricky topic, isn't it? I do wish people could keep to themselves though about others art (as long as it's not hate symbols etc)

I wrote a post about that here if you want to read it (or teh same thing, young looking characters who are adults, vs older looking characters who are children)http://sleeptalker-afterdark.tumblr.com/post/143706310659/pedophilla-is-illegal-even-fictionally

The TL;DR Is
If you showed someone porn of this character
Image
They would probly call it loli/cp.
Nope, she's a thousands+ year old adult.

So it's totally cool to draw porn of her because of a magic fictional number, but her tiny, childlike body totally has nothing to do with it.

I respect everyone's opinions, and understand how even fictional stuff can set someone off, but as you said, it's a very tricky topic and there's no push or pull one way or another.

Ah thanks for the link! Yeah, same thing goes for Perisot now that she's smol. Tumblr even removed some peoples r34 art of her thinking it was child pornography(?), and that's really why I don't like people opening their mouths about something they haven't seen at all based off of just what's in front of them

There's a Tumblr discussion going on about this thread and I'm just ?????????????? Why not talk about it here??? :psyduck: :mystery:
My preference is I'll daydream about anything that its species deems to be an adult with human-level intelligence and be able communicate and give consent in an understandable way.

They probably don't want to engage in the discussion, just talk about what other people are talking about. Tumblr is a different site where people can just discuss stuff away from those they don't want to discuss with.

That is true. Still, it does seem a bit rude since they are doing it publicly. If you want to talk about other people, please private message it.

Edited for typo.

Sorry but I took your warning as a threat because that's how I read it, if you had intended to warn others off from doing it, or to warn the maker that others were going to complain, then it would have helped for you to have been more clear with what you had intended 'cause even now I'm not really sure what your intent actually was.

At least in my personal experience, it feels like the forums are more "dead" after a heavy salting.

I enjoy being here and posting in this community, but it's just exhausting seeing people complaining on several "active" threads. They might be completely justified for their complaining, but it is still exhausting.

I'm not surprised in the least that there is a tumblr conversation about this. People will find a place to voice their opinions, just as we have seen within our own community.

I like hanging around because of the idle chit-chat that goes on. I wish I had more money to be planning out fancy customs and showing off my latest adoption snags, but I can't do that right now. I know that I am not always the best customer for BD- I rarely buy even when I swoon over a new colors and tend to be picky about the amount of releases that have knots- but I still think this community is pretty awesome and I would be sad if BD decided to shut it down (again).

Anyways, that is my disconnected rambling on the subject. I'd like to have hope that things will perk up once the mood lifts, but I guess you can't know for certain.

Pretty much thing. I'm slowly becoming numb to the direction BD is taking. I used to give them lots of money, but since all but two of my purchases were customs, they most likely won't be getting much of my money unless they reopen customs. I'll prolly still stalk the adoptions for something unique, but I just can't do solid colors and splits without fades. They seem so fake to me and it evaporates the fantasy.

I'm from the BDSM community so I have much to say about it! I am horrified that an abusive man is portraid in a romantic light, and is normalised in a away were young girls are going to get themselves in abusive relationships not seeing the signs until later on. Since some of the warning signs are viewed as normal or even romantic.

I agree that everything I have seen BD do has been tasteful and it needs to stay that way. Since if they did promote something that was really problematic in a light that seemed to make something acceptable. It would have influence, because it would make some people think it's okay, some people would take it as a signal that it's socially acceptable.

A company or source of media glorifying something is actually really bad, and is much different to someone's private fantasy. I'm not explaining as well as I could do, but I'm finding it hard to get my point across. I hope people understand what I'm getting at though.

@Rainbow Dasher - yeah I fully agree! I hate the fact people assume that is what I do as well, since I'm very open about being into BDSM. But with people out there being so unsafe that it's lead to actual deaths, it's an all round horror story.

Plus the whole scene about him being angry about her using the safe word infuriates me so much!

I have seen what you've said and it sucks, this forum seemed awesome in the biginning...

Pretty much this... I'm new here too, barely got any replies in my threads. I'm not sure if there are only lurkers around or if I said something wrong, or if and what I misunderstood about this community. I like reading through some threads in its entirely, this one included.

I can see the diversity of people and opinions, and that is one of the things that drawn me to become more than a lurker. I Thought if you are in a place like this which deals with sexuality aimed to a niche audience, folks would at least have the openness of mind discuss each others opinions...

I don't have anything against BD, I know the existence of them for a while, but only recently had interactions, which so far, have been quite professional. They seem pretty standard for a US company... Other places and other cultures have different ways of treating their costumers. Maybe they were different in the past from what people have being saying, and I understand this can feel a bit frustrating for folks that are older around here...

I started with a "I don't own any BD toys yet."

Maybe that's why I got such a shallow welcoming party, other than that I agree with you.

I didn't actually mind you mentioning, because I'm really curious now. Since if I'm honest I think if you have something to say to someone, you should say it to their face. I mean I've not seen what's been said, so I can't comment fairly.

Do you have the link? I actually can't find it under the tag "bad+dragon".

Just for the sake of anyone who asks. I kinda feel out of line and don't want to open the wrong can of worms by publicly posting the link outright. I feel like I would be a part of the problem and I'm no drama king. :smilenox:

The whole franchise drives me crazy. In the books he threatens to track her, manipulates her, ugh. Disgusting. If the movie gets a sequel I'm not going to be happy

100% there will be sequels, milking the cash cow and the naive "I'm so in love with bondage and not just the fact the guy is rich" female fraction~
Toys I want to buy:
- Elypse Art: Neo & Vixen
- BD April Fool Toys: Red Rocket & Fire Hydrant

I'm located in Germany, feel free to send me a message if you're selling one of these.

Sadly yes, it is going to happen. It's also really shitty that the sex shops near me have stopped doing decent things and started to cater to 50 Shades bullshit.
