I've watched cats having to suffer long past what would have been comfortable for them because the owners weren't ready to let go yet. It's such a hard decision to make and I never blame anyone for not wanting to do it at all. It's just always a terrible thing. I'm sorry you've had so many losses, and I hope you're able to be away when it happens as well. That always somehow makes it a little bit easier to deal with. *hugs*

Yeah. We'd never let any of them suffer. My mom's an RN (registered nurse) at a nursing center, so she's seen her share of suffering patients. At least with animals we can put them to sleep when they start to suffer, but we can't help a human pass on (sorry, controversial topic, I know). We'll hold onto him as long as we can, but not so far that he's not comfortable and not able to be at least a little happy. That's just cruel when people don't know when it's time to let go and they keep putting a pet through more pain and suffering.

I'm not glad for your mom having seen a lot of suffering, but I am glad that your family is not willing to be in denial about your cat. I agree that it's cruel and it's very selfish to do that sort of thing. I think it's so easy for people to pretend like they aren't suffering so they don't have to face what's coming. I understand it, I really do, but it always bothers me. Even if I can't fault them for not having the experience to really be able to face it rationally and with dignity. I'm with you on that controversial topic, though. BLEH. Here's hoping everything goes as well as it possibly can from here on out! :misc3:

For sure. I do hope we get a few more good months with him before he starts to decline. I'm sure when he starts to decline that it'll go downhill pretty quickly. I'm still not coping with the fact that he's just barely not even 8. I thought I'd have more time with him. I've got my other too babies, but they're not interchangeable. Doesn't help with our dog being old and not likely to make another year, depending. She tripped up the steps after he walk last night and it took her a bit to get back up. Her hips are getting worse and worse and she's got all sorts of lumps and bumps all over; typical old dog bumps. 2016 is off to fairly shit start right now.

Oh, no! Poor old doggies, they do get so lumpy and rickety. :sniffing: That does sound like a pretty shit start to the year. :unamused: I'm so sorry this is happening. You've got support here if you need it, though! :misc2:

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. As much as I want to be able to say goodbye to them, I'd rather not be home when it all happens. I just couldn't take it. I'd rather give them extra snuggles and a nice goodbye and then leave. I cope better with humans dying than I do with animals. Then again, I get more attached to animals than people (people get annoying too soon; animals don't).

No problem! And 100% agree with you on all this. Although I did find that when someone close to me died, I preferred to handle in the same way I do with animals. Which is like you say here, just saying goodbyes and then leaving. :mystery: I guess there's just something about actually seeing it that is disturbing.

Yeah. I don't handle emotions very well (as in, I'm good with controlling them until I'm not and I'm also not fond of showing them around others, especially crying). I'm 100% sure that I'll be doing a lot of crying for the next few days. 2k16: the year of tears.

I guess I'm the same way, now that I think about it. But crying can be good for you, at least. Helps sweep out those sadness hormones. (is that too far of a reach in trying to remain at least a little bit positive in light of a terrible situation?) :unamused:

Not at all a far reach, lol. I'm trying to cheer myself up however I can and I'm trying to be as positive as I can about it. For one, you can't tell he's sick, so not seeing him ill makes me feel better. Yeah, crying does make me feel better later, but right now I've got a hell of a headache starting; always happens when I've done a lot of crying, and I've been on and off crying since I found out (over an hour ago, I think).

It's good to try to focus on the positives, I think, and him still seeming happy is a fantastic one! I absolutely hate the feeling of having a headache after a lot of crying. :unamused: I hope you're able to feel a little better, at least physically, and get some good rest.

Yeah, I love him to bits, so I'm glad I'll have some good weeks/months with him. I think I'm going to take some Aleve or Excedrin and try to sleep.

Oh thanks, it's one of the few asexual names I really liked. My current name is asexual as it is, so while a few people have complained that I'm picking a "girl's name", I've just made the argument that it was mainly a gaelic male's name until recently, my given name is already used for many females, and both the sound and definition please me greatly. I feel like it's an awesome name for both genders. Very cute for females, strong for males, and a hint of intellect for either. I've considered using Quinlan as the full name, largely so I have Quinn as a short and a way of differentiating between my legal name and my personal name, and it would solidify it as a male name, but I feel like that's super overcomplicating it, I don't particularly care about the gender of the name, and I'll just keep it simple. :stick:
The name's Quinn. I'm an extremely friendly, open-minded fellow if you ask to get to know me. Please feel free to shoot me a PM and chat if you'd like! I always welcome a good conversation, pretty much regardless of the topic.

Guess my toys aren't being delivered today. Checked the website of the courier and, instead of my toys going from Mascot to Alexandria to TAS, they've gone from Alexandria to Sydney...and saying they are not available to be delivered. I am very confused, and really annoyed... 100 + AUD for shipping, for a service that is usually only 3 days until delivery, you'd think I'd get them on time. I am really confused as to what is happening.

Got a late start to today, too, and now I have no real time to do any toy-ing, because I have to jump right into cleaning up the mess that is downstairs. How the fuck did the kitchen explode like that, is what I want to know. I just made a cuppa and some toast this morning, I swear.

A coworker asked me if I had any big plans this weekend. I just said, "Not really..." because there's no nice way of saying "Yeah, I'm really looking forward to shoving my new synthetic dragon tail up my butt, thanks for asking!" :stick:

...the sad thing is, my partner would probably say just that. And then show them a picture of Winston, just to prove it.

He's pretty damned bizarre sometimes, though. Lots of scarred co-workers in his wake.

At last!
A short return to the old excitement of waiting on a new BD toy!
Just got an email yesterday, while I slept, saying my order has shipped!
Should be here today, at around 1:30-2:00pm PST.

Can't wait to see what colors the Cock Smiths picked out for me! :excited:

Let Mo's training begin, this weekend.

I had a very, very odd dream, and now I'm awake... at 5am. I've had toying on my mind for the last 4 days, but haven't had the time or the energy.

Today is the day; I swear!

Cool!
I just heard about a furry fandom event here in Las Vegas, in May!
https://esg.elliottsliveevents.org/

I really want to go, it may be the only chance I get to attend one in quite some time!
