So far I have seen about 30 horses running for their lives open the gates and give them a fighting chance. My chest hurts today but it was worth it...

loosing horses sucks. my grandparents raised Tennessee Walkers and we have lost 6 that i can remember. the worst one for me was a colt that we had to put down that had a extremely badly broken leg, that was hard.

I hope those horses make it and find their way back home or to great new homes.

also we're in the same state Woot.

Had a dream last night my last ex became a warlock and tried to break my SO and I up by turning him into a grizzly bear. He (SO) just kept going to work like nothing happened, we stayed together, nothing changed at all. Told my lovey about the dream and he said that was the dumbest plans in the history of break up plans. I was just amused at the image of a grizzly bear in business casual attire and glasses. :stick:

So I'm like 99.9% sure I know who someone I go to school with is on the forums, but I have no clue how I could possibly address it. I just want to tell him that I know and it's cool, because I totally don't have a giant trunk of dildos in my closet or anything. Still, I only know him from school and I feel like it would hard to talk to him about any of this on campus.

We have a small lake behind our house that’s currently flooding due to torrential rainfall. It hasn’t stopped raining all day and it won’t stop until 7:00 tomorrow morning. The lake has already flooded past the electrical boxes out back, and I’m worried our basement might flood. We’ve had the lake reach our back deck before.

I dared ask my classmates to please stop with all those cruel comments whispered behind others' back ( including me ), being about their weight, their hairstyle or the way they dress because jesus fucking christ we are supposed to be adults, we are not 14 anymore. From what I gather they had lots of fun laughing about me on Facebook after that.

I am 25 and the last time I got nauseus at the mere idea of going to school I was 12-13. I never thought I would miss university ( where I am now is the level "below" uni ) but I guess I can surprise even myself. I had no idea the mentalities or the level of maturity could be so different between what I guess would be called community college in english and a proper university.

I have to cover my dad's classes tomorrow (Monday) and Wednesday. I'd mind it less if I didn't also have to work my regular job Tuesday and Thursday. The first two classes of the day are history ones and I can off his notes for them. The last one is a Monday night only education course; it's a course required for prospective teachers in order to graduate. Fortunately, while I don't have the experience to teach the class, they're just taking an exam so I don't have to do much. Unfortunately, he wants me to talk to them about myself before the exam. While high functioning, I'm still solidly on the autism spectrum and my dad said it would be good for them to hear about it directly from someone who is on it. I don't really mind as it will be good info for them to have. On the other hand, while I've actually practiced what all I want to say about it and everything, I know I'm going to be nervous about it. I'm not used to going into a lot of detail with it and especially with people I don't know, but they need the details so they have a better idea about autism and such (at least from one person). Wednesday will be a lot easier; the two history courses that are Mon/Wed have an exam, and the Wednesday night only course (another history) also has an exam. So I just have to show, pass out the exams, watch for cheating, and then retrieve the exams. It should go a lot easier than tomorrow will.

The other thing is the kittens. Jayne (my mom's) still has diarrhea despite the medicine, but it does seem to be slightly improved. It's certainly not affecting her energy or anything else. Jayne also stepped in her poop for the second time. The first time I was able to use a wet towel to clean her foot, but this time it was all over, so I had to scruff her and bring her to the sink to wash it. Veil (mine) doesn't have that issue. I've been letting them out of their room in the day while I'm around. It's going fairly well. Soubi avoided them except for the first time in the morning when I let them out. Considering the mischief they can get in, I've been letting them stay out for only 30 minutes at a time. I'd like to try for longer, but with the way they get into stuff, 30 minutes at a time is easier to deal with. They've been doing fine left alone in their room all day, but it still bothers me. I'll be sure to let them out of the room to explore and to interact with Soubi at least once before I have to leave. It's a 50 minute drive to the campus and the first class isn't till 1p, but I'm still planning on leaving the house around 1130 to give myself plenty of time for traffic and other possible issues. I'd also much rather be very early than even a little late.

I also have to figure out what to wear. Considering what I've seen professors where over the course of 6 years, I'm not too worried. I've picked out a button-down shirt that I can either wear as is, or wear it open over a nice tank top. That or I can just wear one of my many geeky t-shirts. Depending on which pair of jeans I go for (I don't have many options since most of them don't fit me right now, lol), I have two shoe options (a nicer pair or my Converses, and I'm leaning toward my Converses).

Oh dang community college- I could tell you some stories. Class of incident in the parentheses.

TL:DR socially interacting with others in community college is a comedy of errors that turns nerds into Hogarth Hughes during the espresso scene.

Anyways, I hope me sharing this was as cathartic for you as it was for me. Chances are unless you're going to a really small community college (dunno what the European equivalent is called) you won't run into these people again. Plus more often than not I've met more mature people than immature people in college, these are just examples that, no matter their age, haven't grown up yet. Really hope this works out for you.

So I haven't gotten much of anything done for any of my classes since Wednesday, but I think I had my priorities in order. Had to take girlfriend to ER Wednesday after I got home and then missed class on Thursday while waiting for her to get discharged. Friday through today had been spent putting together a storage shed from one of those build-it-yourself kits. Got all the way through putting this thing up, but messed up the roof sheathing. I have a feeling that's going to be a project for another day, but by the time I can get to it, the other kit should be delivered. The shingles for both sheds were on the same order as the other shed kit, so that means when I fix the sheathing I should be able to roll right into finishing it. That also means I get to go through this entire painful process all over. Not even a slight exaggeration on that, smashed the ever-loving bejesus out of my left thumb from some missed hammer swings. Hopefully when everything is finished, it will have been worth all the effort, which I think it will.

OMG, I'm exhausted. I'm covering my dad's classes while he and my mom are up in NY settling some stuff with his late step-mother. Teaching 202 (late US) and then 201 (early US) wasn't bad at all. 201 was far less enthusiastic and less "there" on the whole. There was one boy on one side who would chime in something or he'd actually respond when I asked if we were ready to move on. 202, which was first, was much better. The students were more outgoing, more with it, and responded more as I spoke. They also would react more in general when I said something. Or they'd ask me to slow down, or just asked questions in general when I asked if they had any. One girl wanted me to go over Wilson's 14 points again. I covered the end of WWI and into the 1920s and 1930s. I ended up stopping just after the Dust Bowl of 1935. I finished up the Revolutionary War, the post-war dealings, and finally the establishment of a central government with the Constitution and all; stopped right at the War of 1812. Got farther in both than my dad expected. I wasn't really nervous or anything like what I was expecting. Grabbed a coffee and a wrap at Starbucks on campus before the last class.

OMG, that was so boring. I had to proctor an exam. It's an upper level education course that's required for those in education before they graduate. I didn't have to teach it, thank fuck, because my dad goes off his experience with teaching being an administrator. Instead of bringing a book Wednesday, when I have three freaking ones to proctor instead of just one, I might bring some manga instead. It'll be easier to stop and look around at everyone. I gave up reading and just fiddled about on my phone since it was easier to stop that and look about. I was also very nervous talking about being on the autism spectrum. I did 10 mins, which was less than I was expecting, but I told them what I wanted. I was kind of expecting or even hoping for questions, but no one asked anything. I didn't leave the campus till 640; one girl came in 30 minutes late to class, so she wasn't done till 630. Apparently they all took longer on it than they probably should have, my dad said. It wasn't too bad though. But yeah, I'm tired just from that, and Wednesday will be worse even just with proctoring exams, or because I'm proctoring them. I'll probably do my usual and grab something from Starbucks since it's so close. There's a 45 minute break between the 2nd and 3rd classes. It's also a 45 minute drive one way. The morning there isn't bad, but it starts getting dark earlier now, so tonight it was mostly dark already by the time I got home around 720. I hope the last class on Wednesday won't take as long with their exam. It's another history course, and it's just once a week like that education course. My dad said they should be done around 6, and I hope that's the case.

^ I'm glad things went well, if a little boring. Boring is best sometimes. Good luck on the other days you're subbing!

Blegh, I've lived in the desert all my life but I'll never get used to coyotes howling. Super creepy! :misc4: :sniffing: they're most active in my neck of the woods when there's been cold snaps. Really hoping my folks got our cats safe in the garage tonight. I would much rather have them snuggled up in their beds than risking a run in with a pack of coyotes.
