In-Hand Toy Pics (Pic Heavy)

Postby Goliogon » Fri Feb 05, 2016 7:39 am

So I'm one of those people who finds in-hand toy pics really useful and I figure some, especially new buyers, could really appreciate some hand-to-toy comparisons! This thread is for people who want to show or request in-hand pics of toys.

Now I know what you're going to say; 'hand sizes vary waaay too much'.
But don't fret! I've found this super hand-y, hand size chart, so you can find out what hand size you are and find a fitting hand model for you! I've also expertly edited it to fit the theme:

Image

I've measured, and apparently, I'm a Womens Medium/ 7! So here are a couple of in-hand toy pics for size 7 hands, to give an example (and if anyone will find them useful!):

Small Sleipnir:

Mini Flint:

Happy to do any in-hand pic requests of toys I have, so let me know if there's anything of mine you want to see.
Please feel free to share your pictures, too! :smilenox:

You know what, I find these really useful! They give a better visual perspective than most comparisons. The different hand sizes are a bummer, but your chart is a great idea as well!
I will try and take some pictures later, to contribute to this thread. :nomnom:

Yeah, I always find them useful, too! The varying hand sizes was an issue I thought about, but I came up with the solution of having a chart so that people can get a more accurate idea of size. Toy to toy comparisons aren't always helpful, since the huge amount of toy and size possibilities can make it difficult for people to give or find specific ones, especially those with only a small handful of toys.

Any pics you could take would be great, thanks! :smilenox: I'll probably post some more at some point as well, since I have a load of toys now.

This is cool, I'll do this sometime (and maybe that'll help people understand why I don't want to increase in toy sizes too much :unamused: )

I don't find in-hand pics all that useful for comparison purposes but they often give me a better idea of how well, or not, I might like a toy. Idk, it's like I see it differently? So I'm willing to add a photo or a few to this thread and I hope others will too!

My collection is listed on my profile if anyone wants to see something in particular? If not, I'll just pick something myself tomorrow...

It is very difficult to gauge, based on hand size, at least for me, but I do like seeing the others that have been added. The one with the Mountain Drake makes the toy look huge, when it really isn't. That might, in a way, confuse people who may think it looks way larger than it actually is.

I'll admit, they certainly aren't for everyone, but some (like myself) find them to be a good visual indicator to size. Also, I was thinking a lot about newbies when I made this thread, since they don't have any toys to compare with; I know I certainly found it very difficult to gauge toy sizes, hence why my first purchase - a Small Stan - turned out to be waaay too girthy! To be fair, I think the Mountain Drake is fairly sizeable (more so in girth than length); I'm holding it now and comparing it to the photo, looks about right to me! Then again, she is the same hand size as me.

I'll include my own in-hand pic with an MD at some point, possibly with more angles to show girth, since a hand 'wraparound' is a good angle to show for girthy toys. Different angles can really help, too!

Oh right!
Your hand is a little larger than the one shown though, that's a womens medium/ 7 size hand (same as mine), so it makes sense. I honestly thought my hands would at least be small size until I checked the chart, so it's interesting to know what size they actually are!

According to the chart my hand is an 8, perhaps a tiiiny bit bigger than that?

I tried to hold all the toys about the same but due to their varying shapes I didn't do too well at that...

L Ridley, L Fenrir, M Apollo, S Flint, M Flint and L Tucker!

Oh? *confused* I've only ever shown my hand holding 3 toys, two of them about a year ago.

Glad they helped!

It required surprisingly little effort to take these kind of photos compared to the ones meant for the comparison thread too. No fiddling about with several toys at once, multiple angles or what have you!

So since I managed to get a quarter of my collection done in about 15 min or so I'll probably add more photos later :smilenox:
