I know! This contest was crazy! It was just impossible to choose 1 out of 90 or guess how it could possibly turn out! I can't wait to see all the pumpkin carvings next! :D I'd like to try that one too if I have time, but doing so stealthily might be more problematic than the costume contest, lol. >w>

I'm totally going to try the pumpkin carving contest, even if I don't think I'll be any good. It doesn't have to be explicit though, and I have seen not so traditional pumpkins before. So you might still be able to give it a go!
I think it standing out and you obviously having fun with it was a factor. I giggled at what you did with it, and so if people also thought it was funny that could have been a factor too.
Either way it was voted, so you placed fair and square!
